Another new tool for the adventurous woodturner

ringtoolsmallac.jpg - 1736 Bytes

This tool, designed by Len Grantham, is ideal for hollowing in end grain. It is easy to use and provides a less expensive, but very effective, alternative to some other tools on the market intended for the same purpose.

The Brailsford set

A new set of six tools for beginners

In developing this set we have called on Reg Slack's extensive knowledge of woodturners' problems, which he has gained from many years of teaching. The result is a set of tools that enables the woodturner to cover a wide range of turning with the minimum amount of kit. For a modest expenditure it gives beginners all they need to be up and running. The tools can be purchased in the way most convenient for the user: either as a boxed set or as individual tools, with or without handles.

stumpyetal1.jpg - 5618 Bytes This set, designed by Phil Reardon, includes three tools: a beading tool, a spindle gouge, and a parting tool. These are all made from heavy round bar that runs all the way through cork handles giving the tools a solid and comfortable feel. There is a sleeve which when fitted to the beading tool turns it into a round skew - this can be slipped into the centre finding tool to provide a depth gauge.
